Here are the names of people killed in police shootings in Columbus

Since January 2020, there have been eight people killed in shootings involving Columbus police officers. Ma'Khia Bryant April 20, 2021 — The circumstances surrounding Bryant's death have not been fully revealed, but a Columbus police officer responded to a 911 call about an attempted stabbing at a foster home on Legion Lane on the Southeast Side. Upon arrival, bodycam video shows Bryant attempting to stab one female who falls backward almost into the responding officer. As the officer draws his weapon, bodycam video shows Bryant, still wielding the knife, goes after another female who is backed up against a car and begins sticking her leg out to hold Bryant back when the officer fires. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the probe into the shooting. Miles Jackson April 12, 2021 — Jackson, 27, was taken to Mount Carmel St. Ann's hospital in Westerville by Westerville police after what was believed to be a drug overdose. A complete pat down of Jackson does not appear to occur, based on Westerville police bodycam, as Jackson starts questioning why he is going to the hospital. Columbus police are alerted that Westerville police have Jackson, whom they have multiple outstanding warrants on. While Columbus police officers Ryan Krichbaum and Andrew Howe were searching Jackson in the hospital emergency department to transfer custody and take him to jail, Jackson was discovered to have bullets in his pocket and a firearm in his groin area. During a struggle for the weapon in which a Columbus officer deploys a Taser, Jackson fires off one shot. A standoff ensues. Jackson, now on the floor with his right hand still in contact with his gun, is instructed more than 85 times to put his right hand above his head with his left hand. He does not comply. A second attempt is made to Taser him. Jackson fires off a shot and Krichbaum, Howe and at least one St. Ann's security officer respond with a barrage of gunfire, killing Jackson. The case remains under investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation. Andrew Teague March 5, 2021 — Teague, 43, was wanted for felonious assault for attempting to shoot his brother. Columbus police attempted to pull Teague over but he began speeding and driving in a reckless manner so they broke off pursuit and followed him from the air with the police helicopter unit. When a Franklin County Sheriff's office deputy later attempted to pull Teague over on Interstate 270, Teague began driving the wrong way on the highway, causing a head-on collision in the southbound lanes. He got out of the vehicle holding a firearm. Teague pointed the firearm at officers before being fatally shot by Columbus police officer John Kifer and Franklin County deputy Mike Severance. Ohio BCI is leading the ongoing investigation. Andre Hill Dec. 22, 2020 — The 47-year man, who was unarmed, was shot by Columbus police officer Adam Coy while police responded to a non-emergency call on Oberlin Drive in Northwest Columbus. Coy has since been fired and been indicted on charges of murder, felonious assault and dereliction of duty. Ohio BCI is handling the investigation. Casey Goodson Jr. Dec. 3, 2020 — The 23-year-old was shot by a Franklin County SWAT deputy working with a U.S. Marshal's task force as he came home to his apartment on 3900 block of Estates Place in the Northland area. Early, unsubstantiated reports said the deputy, Jason Meade, saw Goodson flash a gun. A gun was found on Goodson, but no law enforcement agency that is investigating has said that he used or displayed it. The United StatesAttorney's office for the Southern District of Ohio is leading an investigation, along with assistance from the FBI and Columbus police. Joseph Jewell Feb. 20, 2020 — The 17-year-old was a homicide suspect found at hotel on East Dublin Granville Road. Columbus SWAT officers approached and Jewell fired through the door at them, they said. Officers Howard Brenner, Mark Dilello and Glenn Thivener returned fire on Jewell. Columbus police's Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the case. Abdirahman Salad Jan. 30, 2020 — The 15-year-old was killed in an armed robbery of CVS, 3307 E. Broad St. Police say Salad jumped over the counter and pointed the weapon at officers Benjamin Hetzer, an 11-year veteran of the police force, and Officer Thomas Pezzott II, who shot him. Columbus police's Critical Incident Response Team is investigating the case. Joshua Brown Jan. 25, 2020 — The 34-year-old was shot during an armed robbery at Bob Evans, 1455 Olentangy River Road. Officer Jeffrey Miller shot Brown, the suspect in the robbery, when he fled out the back of the restaurant.
