Low-cost spay/neuter clinics sees success

NORWALK — The Huron County Humane Society's partnership with Humane Ohio to provide public transport for Huron County residents to have access to high-quality, low-cost spay/neuter clinics has completed three runs in January, February and March. There have been 100 animals in all receiving spay/neuter surgeries, including 19 dogs, 76 cats and five feral/stray cats. George and Penny Culver are grandparents to their furry grandchildren Bella and Nikey who used this service in February. They said they were happy with how organized the process was and how kind everyone was. Bella and Nikey healed beautifully and to show their appreciation, the Culvers brought an Easter basket with candy and cookies to the humane society. Bella and Nikey belong to the Brady family of Heather, Tiff and Chris. The next transport will be on May 28 and appointments can be made starting May 4. At that time the humane society will need payment and verification of a rabies shot or you will be required to have your pet vaccinated for rabies at the time of the surgery. Humane Ohio will be doing the transport from the Norwalk Walmart parking lot with drop off at the morning at 6 a.m. and pick up at 5 p.m. Huron County Humane Society will be handling the scheduling and payment for your chosen services. The humane society will be paying Humane Ohio a transport fee and will charge a $5 fee in addition to the cost of chosen services. Services require prepayment at the time of scheduling. Stray, feral and outdoor cats are welcome. The humane society offers live trap rentals for those interested in trapping and spaying/neutering stray and feral cats.
