Huron County Community Library April events

WILLARD — Spend those showery days of April with the Huron County Community Library. Adults and teens can learn how to create a beautiful cherry blossom tree on canvas using Q-tips, at 4 p.m., Monday, April 5. Kits are available Thursday, April 1. All library programs, workshops, and events are held live through Facebook or GoToMeeting. Facebook Live can be viewed even after the program date. Grab and go craft kits for each adult workshop can be picked up at all our library locations. Join Miss Carolyn at 11 a.m. on April 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 for "Baby Storytime" with songs, stories and sign language. Teen kits are available for the spicy ramen challenge at 4 p.m., April 2. Miss Jo will show you how to use chopsticks in this fun live event. The K-Readiness Quiet Book Series continues in April at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays with Miss Jenny. Kits are available at our Greenwich location. On April 6, we will use the "Spell Number Words" kit, April 13 the "Sight Words" kit, April 20 the "Shoe Lacing" kit and April 27 the "Clock Puzzle" kit. Join Miss Char for "The Couch Potato" at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6. She will share a story and a science project using potatoes. The Wakeman location has kits available while they last for "Grass Egg Heads" and at 6 p.m. on April 7 learn how to grow your own grass in an empty eggshell. At 6 p.m. on April 8, Miss Jenny is back out in the community with another behind-the-scenes tour of a local business. Learn the history and the magic behind the scenes of Dynasty Lanes. Join us, teens, through live stream play on Twitch. Follow the links on Facebook, at 4 p.m. on April 9 and 30. "Monday Reads" at Willard will get together through GoToMeeting at 10 a.m. on April 12. The book discussed will be "The Silent Patient" by Alex Michaelides. Miss Mitzi has storytime on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. Storytime themes for April are April 7, "Welcome to Your Library – It's National Library Week"; April 14, "A Rainy Day Storytime"; April 21, "Hey! It's Earth Day!"; and April 28, "Fun in the Sun." This month's "Spice Up Your Life" kit and demo will be about anise seed. Join Judy, at 6 p.m., April 15, and learn how to make biscotti. Kits will be available on Monday, April 12. Teens be sure to join Jo and Mrs. Rogers at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 16 to continue your discussion on "One Piece" by Eiichiro Oda. This week will be vol. 25-27. Create an "Ocean in a Bottle" with Miss Cathy at 4 p.m. on April 19. We will be using water, food coloring, and vegetable oil to create a wave in a bottle. "Awkward Book Club with Jo will meet at 6 p.m. on April 20. They will share thoughts on the book "The Midnight Library" by Matt Haig. Kits are available at our Willard and Wakeman locations. Take part in some "Earth Day" fun at 6 p.m. on April 22. Miss Cathy will show us how to pot perennials. We will learn how to dig up plants, divide them, and replant them. Kits are located at Willard and Wakeman and will include a plant, soil and an upcycled container. Learn how to create a wabi-sabi mixed media canvas at 6 p.m., April 26. Kits are available on April 22. "Cook Up a Storm Cookbook Club" virtual cooking demo will take place at 6 p.m. on April 28. Judy will feature the book "Eat at Home Tonight" by Tiffany King. "No Strings Attached" book selection at our Greenwich location for April is "Something in the Water" by Catherine Steadman. "The Inspirational Book Club" at our North Fairfield location has chosen "Redeeming Love" by Francine Rivers as their book choice for April. Because libraries are for everyone, the Huron County Community Library offers something for everyone.
