Western's Rowlinson selected Northwest District POY

FINDLAY — Western Reserve standout Luke Rowlinson continued to get speciality recognition for this historic season. On Wednesday, Rowlinson earned his third Player of the Year award, this time as the Co-Northwest District Player of the Year, as voted on by a 10-panel board of Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association members. Rowlinson shared the award with Oregon Cardinal Stritch guard Jhaiden Wilson. He was previously named the Player of the Year by the Firelands Conference and the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Association District 6 members. Rowlinson surpassed the 1,000-point mark and became Western Reserve's second all-time leading scorer (1,375) this season. He scored 550 points in 23 games, good for a 23.9 average along with 5.8 rebounds per contest. Rowlinson's 23.9 average is the seventh-best single-season in the 61-year history of the conference. His 38-point performance vs. Plymouth on Jan. 18 is the ninth-most points scored in an FC game. The NAIA Cornerstone University recruit helped lead the Roughriders to a 20-3 record, which included a perfect 14-0 in the FC. The 'Riders became the first program in FC boys basketball history to win four straight league titles, and they also won their first district championship in 58 years. All players who are selected to the Northwest District first or second team are eligible for All-Ohio honors, which will be released the week of April 5. Rowlinson's teammate, senior John Skrada, earned a spot on the second team in Div. III. He averaged 16.4 points and 5.9 rebounds per game and also surpassed 1,000 career points for Western (1,011) this season. Also on the second team was Willard senior Myles Pinkston. The 6-foot-2 senior averaged 13.8 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while leading Willard to the SBC Bay Division title for a third straight season. Willard's Trey Paxton was on the third team after the 6-2 junior guard led the Crimson Flashes in scoring (16.8 points) while helping them to a district runners-up. Honorable mention selections from the area in Div. III included Western junior guard Jude Muenz, Edison senior guard Lincoln Meredith, and Willard senior wing Austin Adelman. DIVISION II Chapin, Gehlhausen honored Norwalk seniors Garrett Chapin and Will Gehlhausen also earned recognition among the top three district teams in Div. II. Chapin — the SBC Lake Division Player of the Year — was a first team choice after averaging 14.6 points and 9.9 points per game for the Truckers (17-9), who won a share of the league title this season. Chapin is first in career rebounds (879) and fourth in career points (1,235) at Norwalk. Gehlhausen was a third team selection after the 6-0 senior guard led the Truckers in scoring at 14.9 points per game. Norwalk played for a third consecutive district title this season, a program first. DIVISION IV Winslow, Lamoreaux are first team St. Paul senior guard Nick Winslow and South Central senior forward David Lamoreaux were both voted to the first team in Div. IV. Nick Winslow finished second in carer points at St. Paul (1,388) and averaged 21.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this season for the Flyers (17-6), who advanced to a Div. IV district title game this season. His 21.6 average is the sixth-best in program history. Lamoreaux scored 1,207 career points for the Trojans and averaged 17.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game this season. South Central was 57-16 with a pair of FC championships and a district title over Lamoreaux's last three seasons. Earning third team in the division was Monroeville junior forward Isaac Roeder and St. Paul senior Nate Winslow. Roeder averaged 19.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for the Eagles (12-9). With more than 1,150 points through his junior season, Roeder is already the program's all-time career points and rebounds leader. Nate Winslow also surpassed 1,000 points (1,085) and is sixth all-time in career points for the Flyers. He averaged 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game this season. Honorable mention choices from the area included Scotty Adelman (St. Paul), Grant Heileman (New London), Jacob Shaver (New London), Zeth Goth (Plymouth) and Jackson McCormack (South Central).
