Huron County residents updated on vaccines

NORWALK — Huron County Public Health (HCPH) would like to provide an important update on COVID-19 vaccine eligibility and availability within Huron County. Vaccine Eligibility Update As of Tuesday, HCPH is continuing to vaccinate individuals in accordance with the Phased vaccine rollout set by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. This rollout was previously set for individuals aged 60 and older. However, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced at his press conference Monday that he will be opening COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to two new categories this week under Phase 1D and Phase 2B. Effective this Thursday, Phase 1D will open eligibility for individuals with the following medical conditions: Type 2 DiabetesEnd-stage renal disease Phase 2B vaccine rollout for Ohio will also begin on Thursday, which extends age-eligibility an additional ten years to include Ohioans aged 50 and older. How to schedule an appointment Eligible individuals can schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine at HCPH by calling 419-668-1652 ext. 241, 263, 244, or 257. HCPH again asks for continued patience as we expect a surge in interest as a new group of individuals become eligible. The department is working diligently to ensure that Huron County residents are kept up to date on all information related to the COVID-19 vaccine phase rollout and eligibility and are scheduling appointments as quickly as we can.
