Huron County Engineer's Office release 2021 projects

NORWALK — The Huron County Engineer's Office has released its 2021 projects. In all, the projects will cost more than $3 million. Final schedules for the projects have not been determined yet, engineer Lee Tansey said. "We are still in the process of selecting contractors and some of the projects cannot begin until late summer due to funding constraints," he said. In total, paving projects will cost $2 million. Bridge and culvert projects will cost $1.4 million and township projects will cost $190,000. The Townline 12 Road resurfacing project should begin in June and will resurface 1.7 miles of roadway. The chip and seal program, which will reseal 45 miles of roadway, is anticipated to take place August or September. Also in this timeframe will be the second phase of Townline 12 and New State Road resurfacing. During construction, one-lane traffic will be maintained. "Residents should expect to see county crews on most of the road projects this spring into summer," Tansey said. "Our crews will be performing preliminary work allowing us to repair various issues at a much lower cost than if we were to contact everything out." Tansey said everything will be ready when the paving contractors arrive and their work should take a week or two to complete. The Snyder Road bridge deck replacement construction will be in mid to late March. The Fayette Road culvert will begin in early June. All other bridge and culvert projects are scheduled from July through October. All bridge and culvert replacements will require road closure during construction and time frames will vary from two to three months. "As always, closures and schedules are weather dependent," Tansey said. "We appreciate everyone's patience during construction and remember to slow down for work crews."
