How much will your Ohio State football season ticket cost change under the new contribution model?

COLUMBUS — Ohio State football season ticket costs will change beginning in 2022 depending on where you want to sit in Ohio Stadium. The new Per-Seat Contribution plan will require season ticket holders in five of the six new seating zones to make a contribution to the Buckeye Club in order to buy season tickets. Here is a breakdown of how the change will affect customers at various levels. Who must pay the Per-Seat Contribution? Some groups will still be exempt, such as students and premium-seat customers who are already paying more for suites and club seats. Also, one upper level of Ohio Stadium — called Zone 6 — will not require a contribution. Anyone selecting a seat in Zones 1-5 will pay the contribution. That includes those who are already President's Club Lifetime members or those who contributed at the Endowment Level or the Athletics Special. Faculty and staff must also pay the contribution, though they receive a 20 percent discount on both that contribution and the cost of two tickets. Same goes for Varsity O members, though their discount is 50 percent. Recent graduates — alumni receiving an undergraduate or graduate degree from OSU within the past five years — receive a 50 percent discount on the contribution and a 25 percent discount on two season tickets in Zones 4, 5 and 6 only. How much will season ticket holders pay? For the general public, season tickets currently cost $702 per seat, plus a $1,500 Buckeye Club membership per pair of seats. Ohio State athletics proposed to the Board of Trustees that those prices remain unchanged for 2021 — the second consecutive season of stagnant prices. Beginning in 2022, the per-seat ticket cost and contribution will vary based on which of six zones the seat is located. For instance, Zone 1 will consist of two lower-level sections between the 30 yard lines facing the OSU sideline. Those seats will require a $1,500 contribution per seat, above a projected cost of $1,287 per season ticket for the eight-game 2022 home season. Total projected cost for a pair of the best non-premium seats in the house for 2022: $5.574. Zone 5, which will include the Block O North and South sections as well as some other upper-level sections, will require a $100 contribution per ticket. Each season ticket for 2022 is projected to cost $799. That brings the total cost for a pair of Zone 5 tickets to $1,798.
