Schild said store is preparing for influx of new customers

NORWALK — Dave Schild runs a business, and he knows the best thing for a business is customers. Well, Schild soon will have a lot more customers to deal with. And he said he'll do everything he can to accommodate them. Green Circle Growers of Oberlin is planning to provide housing for their seasonal workers at a new living complex planned for the Cline Street area. The company employees about 800 people, with about 300 of them full-time seasonal workers. The seasonal workers will be housed in Norwalk. Schild, owner of Schild's IGA right across the street, said his store is preparing for the influx of customers. "What we are going to do is expand out Hispanic section," Schild said. "There is a representative coming in helping us reset our Hispanic secion. "That could be a good thing for us going for us going forward." Green Circle Growers representatives said they were looking for a place to build a living complex that is accessible to everything. "I think they wanted to have it located close to stores, pharmacies and a laundrimat they can walk to," Schild said. "We'll try to promote as much as we can with them. I took Spanish in school," Schild said with a laugh. "I can help them as much as I can. The more accommodating you can be the better it is. I don't know if they are all coming from Mexico or Central America ... we will certainly welcome them. That could be a good thing. "They (the previous owner) may have done us a favor by keeping that property open. Still having a farm in the middle of town was something."
