Local residents continue to receive vaccines

NORWALK — More than 1,000 residents of Huron County have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Huron County Public Health (HCPH) continued vaccinating eligible individuals in the fourth category of Phase 1B rollout last week, which included individuals aged 65 and older and about 900 Huron County K-12 school personnel. Currently authorized COVID-19 vaccinations required two shots to get the most protection, given 21 or 28 days apart. In the last week, the top three high incidence ZIP codes are New London, Willard and Bellevue. For the reporting period of Feb. 4 to Feb. 11, 71 new cases were reported in Huron County. As of Thursday, Huron County remains Alert Level Red on the Ohio Department of Health's Ohio Public Health Advisory System. HCPH urges all residents to assess their own individual risk for illness before leaving their homes, exercise a high degree of caution when in public and continue to follow all current health orders.
