Crystal Cox honored by Firelands Ambulance Service

NEW LONDON — Crystal Cox is the Firelands Ambulance Service (FAS) Volunteer of the Year and was honored with a plaque Jan. 26 at the service's annual banquet. Chosen by her fellow volunteers, Cox has been an EMT with the service for almost two years, and FAS coordinator Dan Bailey calls her "a great asset" to the service. After the banquet, training officer Jeff Vanderpool led a session on how to quickly remove gear from a firefighter who may have a medical problem. FAS serves 5,500 citizens in a 100-square-mile radius which includes the village of New London and the townships of New London, Fitchville, Ruggles and Troy.
