South Central beats Crestview in OT — again

OLIVESBURG — For the second time this season, the South Central boys basketball team outlasted Crestview in overtime. This time on the road, the Trojans rallied from an eight-point third quarter deficit to claim a 60-56 win over the Cougars in Firelands Conference action. South Central (13-2, 9-2) has won six straight games entering next Friday's big test at Western Reserve (13-1, 11-0), which has won 12 straight. The Cougars (10-5, 6-4) led 40-32 in the third quarter, but the Trojans closed the quarter on a 10-4 scoring advantage to get within 44-42 entering the final eight minutes. The game was tied at 50 through regulation, and standout David Lamoreaux gave South Central the lead for good early in the overtime. Lamoreaux had another big night for South Central, as he finished with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Isaac Blair scored 11, with McCormack adding nine points, five rebounds and four assists. Sam Seidel also added eight points, four rebounds and three assists. South Central also topped Crestview in overtime, 67-61, on Dec. 18 in Greenwich. The Trojans have 1on 15 straight games over the Cougars dating back to the 2013-14 season. Goodwin and Clingman also both finished with 18 points each, while Meritt key and Isaac Roeder each added eight, and Ian Schafer scored seven points.
