Toast Norwalk Mayor Dave Light for showing up and speaking at Wednesday's strike rally at Borgers USA. Light is in a tough position as mayor of the city and a former union worker. He said he was there to support the workers while also offering a neutral spot for the company and union representatives to meet. The quicker this is resolved the better for the workers, Borgers and the city of Norwalk. Toast the life of James Herner, co-founder of Janotta & Herner Inc., of Monroeville, who died last week in an auto accident. It was a tragic ending to a remarkable life that touched many. He will be missed, but he never got cheated and made the most of every second he spent on this earth. Rest in peace. Toast Paul Skidmore Jr., who was named firefighter of the year by the Huron River Joint Fire District for 2020. A lot of people don't realize how much time these dedicated volunteer firefighters put into protecting others. Congratulations on a job well done. Toast the news Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine adjusted the state curfew from 10 to 11 p.m. It is good for all bars and restaurants out there trying to survive this pandemic. DeWine said as the COVID-19 numbers improve the curfew will be relaxed again until midnight and then eliminated. It's up to us to protect ourselves and others during this pandemic. Toast Ohio Sen. Rob Portman (R-Cincinnati) and all of the work he has done for this state. Portman announced earlier this week he will not seek re-election in 2022, setting the stage for a real battle between Republicans and Democrats for the seat. The Reflector asked U.S. Rep Tim Ryan Wednesday if he is ready to throw his hat into the ring, but he just smiled and said nothing has been decided. Roast the news that doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are being thrown out, including 35 doses in seven vials in Ohio. There are reports that "hundreds if not thousands" doses are being tossed out each day around the country. Let's get this right and make sure the people who want the vaccine get the vaccine. Toast St. Paul High School senior Danielle Smith, who joined the 1,000-point club at the school, joining Colleen Creamer, Mandy Bowser, Emily Gross, Ashley Painter, Dawn Wise, Jeanne Missler and Kami Roeder. The accomplishment comes just weeks after Smith's father, Mike, collected his 400th victory as head boys' basketball coach at St. Paul. Toast St. Paul High School junior Aiden Naseman, who recently picked up his 100th wrestling victory at the school. Toast Norwalk Police Capt. Eric Hipp, who recently retired after 34 years with the department. Hipp was well respected and he will be missed. Enjoy your retirement.
