HURON — The Monroeville girls basketball team fell behind by double-digits early and never recovered in a 60-41 loss in non-conference play against host Huron Thursday night. The Tigers (2-10) led 17-4 after one quarter and extended their lead to 31-15 at halftime. The Eagles, who fell to 5-7 overall, were outscored 29-26 in the second half. Graisyn Yoder made a pair of 3-pointers to finish with 10 points for Monroeville, while Delaney Giles added nine and Alyssa Hupp had eight. Willard — ranked No. 4 in the latest Division III Associated Press state poll — improved to 14-1 with the win. The Flashes led 18-10 after one quarter, and extended their lead to 37-21 through three quarters. Willard limited the Tornadoes (4-9) to just 10 points in the second half. Presley Feltner had a big double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds for Willard, while Layla Dials added 10 points and Mckenna Stephens finished with eight points. Willard (7-0 SBC Bay) hosts Edison (9-4, 4-2) in a league game on Friday. Roeder will enter Friday's game at Plymouth with 1,094 points after he surpassed the 1,074 total held by Don Farmer (1981-84). The Eagles trailed 19-15 after one quarter on Tuesday, but took control with a 16-8 scoring edge in the second quarter for a 31-27 halftime lead. Meritt Key made five 3-pointers for 15 points, while Jimmy Clingman also added 15 points for Monroeville.
