Phase 1B OF COVID-19 vaccine distribution update for Huron County

NORWALK — Gov. Mike DeWine announced at his press conference on Tuesday, Jan. 19, some changes to Phase 1B distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine. These changes were initiated by DeWine to clarify the vaccination starting dates for the different high-risk populations. These changes and clarifications can be found in the starting dates of Jan. 25 and Feb. 15. The updated Phase 1B rollout for Ohio as of Jan. 19, is as follows: • Week of Jan. 19: Ohioans aged 80+. • Week of Jan. 25: Ohioans aged 75+ and Ohioans with developmental or intellectual disabilities AND one or more severe congenital, developmental, or early-onset conditions that make them particularly vulnerable • Week of Feb. 1: Ohioans aged 70+ and employees of K-12 school districts. • Week of Feb. 8: Ohioans aged 65 and older. • Week of Feb. 15: Ohioans without a developmental or intellectual disability, who have one or more of the qualifying severe congenital, developmental, or early-onset medical conditions that make them particularly vulnerable. At this time, the demand for the vaccine remains greater than the available supply however Huron County Public Health (HCPH) is working hard to address this issue. DeWine announced that there was a one-day delay in delivery of the Moderna vaccines to approximately 155 Ohio locations. HCPH is remaining alert for continuous information and updates and will provide information to the public. HCPH asks for continued patience and understanding while navigating these changes to the Phase 1B rollout and ask the community to do their part in defending against the spread of COVID-19 by continuing to wear a mask, social distance at least six feet, avoid gathering in large groups, and stay home when possible.
