GIRLS HOOPS: St. Paul tops Huron, Western falls and New London wins

NORWALK — The St. Paul girls basketball team jumped on visiting Huron early and cruised to a 60-31 non-league win over the Tigers on Saturday inside Harvey Keller Gymnasium. The Lady Flyers improved to 8-2 overall with the win. They led 15-6 after one quarter and 29-17 at halftime, then blew the game open with a 15-3 scoring margin in the third quarter. In the win, Camille Endsley scored 17 points and Maddy McCall scored 16. Morgan Baxter, Danielle Smith and Molly Ridge each added seven points for St. Paul, which visits Vermilion (7-2) on Wednesday in a non-league test. Kiaya Thierry, the leading scorer in the FC, scored 26 points and grabbed seven rebounds for New London (4-7, 3-4). Emilee Rowland added nine points, 13 rebounds, four blocks and three assists. Esther Schmidt added nine rebounds. For Monroeville (1-5, 1-5), Braylee Wise scored 18 points and Graisyn Yoder added eight. The Eagles are at St. Paul on Friday. Edison (0-7) led 19-12 after one quarter, but the Sailors outscored the host Chargers by a 43-19 margin over the next two quarters to win going away. Lincoln Meredith paced Edison with 15 points and five rebounds, while Dylan O'Dell had 12 points and Luke Bissell added nine.
