Hundreds turn out for free COVID testing

NORWALK — A steady stream of people filled the Expo Building at the Huron County Fairgrounds Thursday afternoon for free COVID-19 testing. At one point the wait from start to finish was just over 15 minutes, while others reported it took less than five minutes to get through. Huron County Commissioner Skip Wilde was pleased with the results. "I'm hopeful we get a few hundred," Wilde said. "I'm absolutely sure there are people who want to get tested. "We had a little problem with the internet. We put the internet in her specifically for this project and they needed it here." The testing was slated from 1 to 5:45 p.m, but people were in line early and they got started about 15 minutes early, Wilde said. "We have National Guard. They do the testing. Fisher-Titus has been fantastic. They are bringing 10 volunteers noon to 3 and 10 more 3 to 6 and they will trade off," Wilde said. "We have our Jobs and Family Services IT people here. (Commissioner president) Terry (Boose) and I are here. "It's perfect. When we had a line here the longest was 15 minutes and 44 seconds. It doesn't take long at all. "Some people asked me 'why do you want to do this?' People want to know."
