Green Circle planning housing development for Cline Street

NORWALK — Green Circle Growers is planning to build duplexes for temporary workforce employees on the Cline Street property it recently purhased. Norwalk Mayor Dave Light said he spoke with a representative from Green Circle Growers and he said they plan to present their plans to council in the coming weeks. "They have a very ambitious schedule," Light said. "They had a few people down a few weeks ago surveying the property and getting all their plans together." He said the representative said Green Circle, located on U.S. 20 in Oberlin, wants to be "good neighbors" and hopes to partner with the city moving forward. "They want to do a presentation to city council and show us actually what they have planned for the site," Light said. "They want to be in complete compliance with everything they're doing." He said Green Circle plans to build duplexes on the 29-acres property on Cline Street. The property sold for $850,000. "They spoke about a place for recreation, possibly like a soccer field," he said. "It sounds like it's going to be a nice neighborhood." Light said the company isn't planning to house migrant workers in the planned duplexes. "It will be temporary workforce people, so it's a little different. It's like what you see at Cedar Point," he said. "It's a privilege for them to get to come here, so they don't want to do anything to screw that privilege up. They're there around 10 months out of the year." Light said Green Circle has never had any issues in any other housing developments before. He said part of the reason Green Circle Growers decided on Norwalk and Cline Street is because of its close proximity to grocery stores, restaurants and churches.
