Help the Enrichment Centers provide Christmas to seniors

NORWALK — Enrichment Centers for Huron County remain closed but it continues to serve the seniors throughout the holiday season. For passport and meal delivery clients, the Enrichment Centers will be delivering boxes of shelf-stable meals the week after Thanksgiving. Near Christmas, it will deliver gift bags to all meal clients as they have for 21 years. These gift bags will be given to homebound seniors in the area and provide them with items like socks, toothbrushes and toothpaste, blankets and candy. COVID-19 has kept everyone at a distance but these seniors may not be able to see families or receive gifts. The Enrichment Centers want to bring joy to these seniors and are asking for monetary donations to help make this possible. Send donations to 130 Shady Lane Drive, Unit C, Norwalk. If you would like to make a monetary donation, specify on your check that your donation is for "Homebound Senior Christmas." All checks can be made out to "Enrichment Centers for Huron County" and dropped off or mailed to 130 Shady Lane Drive, Unit C, Norwalk; or 315 E. Tiffin St., Willard. With COVID-19 cases increasing, the Enrichment Centers does not have a reopening date as of yet like other senior agencies in the area. As a staff, those at the Enrichment Centers are required to be tested every two weeks, taking advantage of the testing plan the state came out with. The common areas of the building have been cleaned, organized and sanitized and touchless hand sanitizers have been installed in various locations. Plexiglass barriers have been purchased and more will be installed. The Huron County commissioners provided funding through the CARES Act grant to install walk up temperature scanners. The centers also were able to purchase a sanitizer gun for each location, to sanitize busses, buildings and fitness equipment. The Enrichment Centers of Huron County focus on area senior's overall well-being, such as transportation, homemade meals, health and educational classes.
