Huron County Public Health Services opens

NORWALK — Huron County Public Health (HCPH) announced the grand opening of Huron County Public Health Services (HCPH Services) on Nov. 2. HCPH Services, Huron County's look-alike Federally Qualified Health Center, will now provide primary care for individuals of all ages, by appointment, at Huron County Public Health located at 28 Executive Dr. in Norwalk. HCPH Services has been designed to operate and provide services consistent to those of a federally qualified health center in an effort to provide care to underserved communities and vulnerable populations through service provision to all, regardless of ability to pay. Recognizing that need for low-cost, quality healthcare for community members in Huron County, HCPH Services offers healthcare for individuals who currently have few or no primary care options, such as individuals with Medicare, Medicaid, and individuals who are uninsured. HCPH Services is staffed by Huron County Public Health's current medical division under the supervision of the director of public health nursing, Chris Cherry. Jodi Schwab has been added as HCPH Services' certified nurse practitioner, as she brings with her a vast wealth of experience and education to our medical team. "The purpose of creating HCPH Services is to reduce barriers to care for our residents and improve access to healthcare with the ultimate goal of improving the health of our residents," said Huron County health commissioner, Timothy Hollinger. "HCPH Services will play a major role in ensuring equitable primary care for our underserved residents, including patient education and counseling referrals under the care of Jodi Schwab, certified nurse practitioner."
