Wakeman woman killed in two-vehicle accident

WAKEMAN TOWNSHIP – A woman was killed Sunday in a two-vehicle accident in Wakeman Township. The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Norwalk Post is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred at about 1:54 p.m. The crash occurred at the intersection of Ohio 303 and Butler Road, in Wakeman Township. Donna J. Zedaker, 74, of Wakeman, was driving a 2016, Ford Escape, south on Butler Road. Avery N. Arnold, 17, of Elyria, was driving a 2007, Dodge Ram, west on Ohio 303. Zedaker failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck on her left side by Arnold, according to reports. After impact, both vehicles traveled off the southwest corner of the intersection. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were removed from the scene. Zedaker, who was wearing her seatbelt, suffered incapacitating injuries and was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital by Citizen's Ambulance where she succumbed to her injures. Arnold, who was wearing her seatbelt, suffered incapacitating injuries and was transported to Mercy Allen Hospital by Central Lorain County EMS The crash remains under investigation and alcohol and/or drugs usage is not suspected at this time. Assisting agencies include Huron County Sheriff's Office, Wakeman Township Fire Department, Citizen's Ambulance, Central Lorain County EMS and Interstate Towing. It was the second fatal accident in the area in less than a week. Raymond Harris, 51, of Wakeman, died Oct. 1 in a single-vehicle accident on Baumhart Road.
