Norwalk Middle School teams place second at Keystone, Seneca East

The Norwalk Middle School cross country teams have opened the season with a pair of meets at Keystone and Seneca East.On Aug. 24, the girls team was second in the team standings at Keystone with eighth-grader Zuri Immel winning the race overall in 13:19. Xavia Immel was fourth (14:07), followed by Abigal Koenig (eighth), Kaylee Houghtlen (11th) and Kayli Bergman (17th). In the boys race, Norwalk also took second, as seventh-grade runner Casey Kromer took second, while Roberto Dominguez was fourth. Also for the Truckers, Ben Snyder was 20th, followed by Zade Oglesby (26th) and Juan Martinez (27th).On Aug. 29, the NMS girls and boys were again second in the large school Orange division at the Seneca East Tiger Classic.Zurina Immel was fifth (13:13) overall, followed by Xavia Immel (14:10) in 11th, Bergman (15:10) in 18th; Koenig (15:22) in 20th and Houghtlen (15:25) in 22nd. Maddison Trenor (16:56, 37th) and Addison Daniels (18:26, 48th) rounded out the lineup. In the boys race, Kromer was fourth (12:14), Dominguez (12:38) was eighth and Snyder (15:54) was 24th. Also for the Truckers, Martinez (14:28) was 33rd, Landon Knoll (14:49) was 37th, Oglesby (15:30) was 43rd and Alex Chriostophel (15:48) was 47th.Norwalk's next meet will be Tuesday (Sept. 1) at the "old school" Northern Ohio League meet at Willard City Park.
