Edison places 12th in host girls golf tournament

HURON — Host Edison was 12th, while St. Paul and Norwalk were 17th and 20th, respectively, at Wednesday's Edison girls golf Invitational at Thunderbird South golf course in Huron. Ashland won the 20-team field with a 329, followed by Avon Lake (335), Lexington (343), Huron (353) and Avon (355) to round out the top five. Bellevue (357) was also sixth in the field. Edison's Lauren Neher was tied for the 12th best score individually, as she led the Chargers with an 83. Rounding out the scores for Edison included Ava Grant (86), Madison Butler (103), Mallory Meister (107) and Meredith Unger (108). For St. Paul (417), Amelia Rospert led the team with a 100, followed by Brooke Bleile and Sammy Lippert with 105s. Anna Kaple added a 107, followed by Alaina Takacs (119). Norwalk (447) was led by Noelle Jackson with an 89, followed by Mylea Barber (103), Analiese King (117), Mya Binkley (138) and Caitlin Harris (139). Olivia Martinez (84) and Lara Spurlock (88) were the low scores for Bellevue. BOYS GOLF New London 187, Loudonville 193 LOUDONVILLE — The New London boys golf team won by six strokes on Tuesday over host Loudonville at Round Lake golf course. Carter Eibel led New London with a 46, while the trio of Marcus Mayhorn, Dax Amburgy and Cole Kropka each shot a 49. Jacob Shaver added a 51 and Tyler Twining had a 57. New London is at the Hillsdale Invitational on Friday. Minor hits an ace in practice NORWALK — Norwalk junior Ian Minor sank a hole-in-one on Wednesday during a practice round at Eagle Creek Golf Course. Minor used a pitching wedge on the 156-yard par 3 No. 6 hole on the course. The Truckers travel to Tiffin Columbian on Thursday.
