NAMI to meet Aug. 10 NORWALK — National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) has scheduled a virtual support group meeting for Monday, Aug. 10, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The group has been using this format since the Covid pandemic precautions began. The meeting will be held via the videoconferencing service Zoom. The login link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/ 81330465715. The link also appears on the group's Facebook page. Attendees can start joining the meeting a few minutes before the start time. NAMI is an international support group for persons with mental illness and their families. Nearly 60 million Americans reportedly experience a mental health condition every year. Regardless of race, age, religion or economic status, mental illness impacts the lives of at least one in four adults and one in 10 children across the United States. Alzheimer's Association to hold virtual educational programs TOLEDO — The Alzheimer's Association Northwest Ohio Chapter will be presenting several virtual educational programs to help the community and families impacted by the disease. These presentations cover a variety of topics and occur at different times during the day via videoconferencing to allow individuals to participate in the convenience of their homes. They will discuss topics such as legal/financial issues families face, what to expect in the different stages of the disease, and how to have difficult conversations. The programs are very helpful for anyone experiencing signs of memory loss, their family members who may be concerned and the community member looking for more education.
