State Patrol investigating Turnpike injury crash

BERLIN TWP. — The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Milan Post is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday that occurred on the Ohio Turnpike.A blue Chevrolet stopped for unknown reasons in the middle lane and was rear-ended by a white Volvo semi-trailer. Both vehicles traveled off the right side of the road and went into a ditch, according to a news release. The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Aleah Young, 22, of Jay, Okla. She received possibly serious injuries and was transported via Cleveland Metro Life Flight to Metrohealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Her condition is unknown at this time.The driver of the semi-trailer was identified as Anvar Khalilov, 32, of Brooklyn, N.Y. Mr. Khalilov received no apparent injuries.It is unknown if drug or alcohol use contributed to the crash and the incident is still under investigation.The Ohio State Patrol was assisted on scene by Milan Township Fire and EMS, North Central EMS, Lifecare EMS, Cleveland Metro Life Flight, The Ohio Turnpike Maintenance Department and Interstate Towing.The eastbound travel lanes were closed at mile-post 122 for approximately 30 minutes before the road was reopened and normal traffic resumed.
