The top stories in the Norwalk Reflector June 6, 1867: The Sheep Fair The Sheep Fair which came off in this place on Friday last was a success, although there were not as many in attendance as we should like to have seen. The reason for that, however, was a very natural one; the weather was fine, and many farmers who would otherwise have been present, remained at home to plant their corn. We are no more prepared to give a correct opinion as to the best sheep entered for the competition, than a farmer would be to judge of the quality of different jobs printed by us. This much we think we are safe in saying — that we have never seen a better lot of sheep in Norwalk. Entries were made by the following named persons: J.J. Youngs, Ripley; John K. Brant, Greenfield; Brant & Call; D. & H. Norton, Norwalk; George Sawyer, Lyme; George Manailan, Hartland; I.P. Lapham, Bronson; Eastman & Ammerman, Bronson; G. & S. Boalt, Norwalk; Jas. D. Knapp, Bronson; Wm. White; Wm. St. John, Fairfield. In addition to the show of sheep, there were some fine horses on the ground; among them was a three years old stallion, Kennebeck, owned by D. & H. Norton of this township. We think he is as fine, if not the finest, three-years-old that we have ever seen in the county. The Messrs. N. had some very fine sheep, but on this point we can only say that there no poor sheep exhibited. County Convention Next Saturday, the 8th, is the day appointed by the Central Committee, for the Union men of Huron County, to meet at the Court House in this place for the selection of eight delegates to represent the county in the Union State Convention that is to meet in Columbus on on Wednesday, the 19th, of the present month. The County Convention is called to meet at 11 o'clock A.M. We hope not withstanding it is a busy time with our farmer friends, to see the Convention well attended. We would say to the Union men of the several townships, do not leave that work, unimportant thought it may seem, to be done by a few in and about Norwalk. Let us commence the campaign right and in earnest — in a way to convince both friend an foe that the Union men of old Huron are determined to fight the battle in their usual gallant style. That, so far as they are concerned, nothing shall be lost of what was gained by the "Boys in Blue." A great measure is now before the people of Ohio and important questions connected with it may come up in the State Convention. Let us therefore send our best men to represent us. Divorce Notice The defendant, William A. Blandon, is hereby notified that Emma Blandon, his wife, did on the 30th day of April, A.D. 1867, file her petition in the Clerk's Office of the Court of Common Pleas, of Huron County, Ohio, charging that said William A. with adultery with one Fanny Johnson, on or about the 10th day of January, A.D. 1866, at the hotel in Grand Ledge in the State of Michigan. Plaintiff therefore asks that she may be divorced from the said William A.; that she may have the care and custody of their child, William A. Jr., with reasonable alimony and the said defendant is also hereby notified that the plaintiff will take depositions to be read in evidence on the final hearing of the above cause, at the office of Charles Campbell, Justice of the Peace, in the City of Lansing, in the state of Michigan, on the 29th day of May, A.D. 1867, between the hours of 8 o'clock A.m. and 9 o;clock P.M. of said day, and the same will be adjourned from day to day, between the same hours, until the same is completed.
