Why did woman flee accident?

HARTLAND TOWNSHIP — The Ohio State Highway Patrol's Norwalk Post is still investigating a two-vehicle serious injury crash last Thursday. Amanda G. Jarzabek, 35, of Fitchville, was driving a 2002 Ford Escape north bound on Greenwich Milan Townline. Pamela J. Lewis, 53, of Amherst, was driving a 2016 Nissan Rogue east bound on Scranton Road. Jarzabek fled the scene and was not located until she came on station the following day. The post says it still is not clear why Jarzabek fled. "We don't know for sure why she left the scene, but we suspect it could have been because she didn't have a license," Post Sgt. Jason Demuth said. Jarzabek failed to stop at a stop sign and struck Lewis' car in the right side, according to reports. Both cars then traveled off the northeast corner of the intersection where Jarzabek's car hit a fire hydrant. Lewis' vehicle then struck a traffic sign and a tree before coming to rest. "Since it was a full day later we don't know whether drugs and alcohol were a factor," Demuth said. No official charges has been filed to date. Charges are expected to be filed once the investigation is completed and sent to the law director. "Once the law director reviews it the decision of what, if any, charges will be filed," Demuth said. "We don't file the charges periodically; we wait and file them all at once." Anthony J. Jarzabek, 15, of Fitchville, was the back seat passenger of Amanda Jarzabek's vehicle. He was not wearing his safety belt and suffered serious injuries during the crash. He was transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center by North Central EMS and later to Cleveland Metro. Lewis was wearing her seat belt during the crash and was transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center by North Central EMS with minor injuries. Robert S. Kilgore, 56, of Willard, was the right front passenger in Lewis' vehicle. Kilgore was wearing his seat belt and was also transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with minor injuries. Jefferson W. Lewis, 48, of Amherst, was the rear passenger. Lewis was wearing his seat belt and was also transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center by North Central EMS with minor injuries. Demuth said the investigation will be completed "soon" and be sent to the law director.
