Man accused of Bogle murder has new attorneys

FREMONT — The man accused of killing Heather Bogle has two new attorneys appointed to him by Sandusky County Judge John Dewey.Dewey recently appointed Toledo based attorneys Merle Dech and Jane Roman to represent Daniel Myers, 48, of Green Creek Township. Myers faces the death penalty if convicted of aggravated murder, kidnapping and aggravated robbery charges. The charges have specifications of being sexually motivated and of being committed with a firearm.Myers, who is being held at the Sandusky County jail on a $2 million bond, had wanted Fremont attorney John Ickes to represent him.nIckes, however, is not certified to handle death penalty cases.Sandusky County prosecutor Tim Braun had previously said that was of concern because Myers could later appeal that he did not have appropriate counsel.Both court-appointed attorneys are certified in these cases, ensuring that will not be an issue.Braun has said he will attempt to have Myers reimburse the county for a portion of attorneys' fees.
