Melvin Comer, Nov. 26, 1939-Feb. 20, 2020

NORWALK - Melvin Comer, 80, of Norwalk, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020, in Stein Hospice Care Center surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 26, 1939, in Minford, Ohio, to William and Ruth (Wheeler) Comer. Melvin worked for 40-plus years at Cedar Point as a supervisor of ride maintenance and as a security officer. He belonged to a motorcycle club and the classic car coddlers group. He enjoyed participating in corn hole tournaments and spending time at the senior center. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann (Hall) Comer of Norwalk; children, Jeffrey (Angela) Comer, Deborah (Jim) Bunting; grandchildren, Whitney Bunting, Allison (Brody) Obray, and Robyn (Brian) Dunn; great-grandchildren, Blakely and Ryker Obray and Carter Bunting; siblings, Merven (Janet) Comer, James (Diane) Comer, Alfred Comer, Pauline (David) Reed and Donna Ratcliff. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Edward Comer; and great-granddaughter, Jaidyn Obray. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, until service at 1 p.m., at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk, with Chaplain Mel Sayler officiating.
