Harvest Fest returns to Greenwich

GREENWICH — Pumpkins, games, food and children's activities will fill Greenwich Park as the community welcomes fall with its annual Harvest Fest. The Greenwich Improvement Group will host the free event from 1-3 p.m. on Oct. 3 at Greenwich Park. Parking will be available off New Street near the historical society. The festival will include pumpkin sales, face painting, games, vendors, food and drinks, a bounce house and other activities. Organizers said the event is designed largely with children and families in mind, although vendors and other attractions will offer something for adults and older children as well. The Greenwich Improvement Group organizes community events and fundraisers throughout the year, using the proceeds to help provide activities such as Harvest Fest. Local organizations and businesses also take part. Organizers said churches are expected to offer activities this year, along with several area vendors. Laney's Lemons is also expected to attend. Past Harvest Fest activities have included a children's train ride, crafts, a corn play area and seasonal food and drinks. Pumpkins are supplied by a Greenwich-area family that grows and sells them locally. The Improvement Group said the goal is simple: give families a place to spend time together and provide children with something fun to do in their community.
