Village offices reopen after renovations

WAKEMAN — Wakeman village offices have reopened following renovations that included new flooring and interior repairs. Village fiscal officer Jennifer Abahazi said the offices reopened Sept. 3 following work by All Seasons Builders. Employees had been inside unpacking before reopening to visitors. Village council voted 6-0 on April 13 to approve the contractor's approximately $26,900 quote for improvements to the Village Hall and police station building, according to meeting minutes. The approved work included carpeting in three village offices, vinyl flooring throughout the rest of the building, removal of old boiler baseboards, trim installation and some drywall repairs. Council also approved a separate purchase of about $3,500 for four conference tables and 28 chairs for the council meeting room. At the April meeting, Mayor Chris Hipp said improvements to Village Hall had been discussed for a long time but repeatedly put aside, according to the minutes. By the July 20 council meeting, village administrator Trisha Summers reported renovations had begun. The village announced the reopening on its website Sept. 3, thanking residents for their patience while the facilities were improved. Residents can also continue conducting village business by phone, email and the drop box.
