Stores slash prices on school supplies

PERKINS TWP. — With the start of the new school year approaching, Meijer stores across the Midwest are offering a selection of school supplies for $1 or less. This summer, shoppers at Meijer stores — including the area's lone local location, 4702 Milan Road (U.S. 250), Sandusky — can find Meijer and national-brand school supplies at heavily discounted prices through Sept. 8. This would include pencils, crayons, markers, folders, notebooks, binders, erasers and more. "Back-to-school season is an exciting time as families prepare to help their kids start the year strong," said Don Sanderson, Meijer's chief merchandising and marketing officer. "By expanding the number of discounted items, we're helping families check everything off their lists and head into the school year feeling confident and ready." In total, prices on more than 50 school supplies have been slashed. Among some notable examples of Meijer-branded items: • For 25 cents — two-pack washable glue sticks, school glue, crayons • For 50 cents — colored pencils • For 99 cents — washable markers Teachers, meanwhile, can receive a 15% off school and home office equipment. Teachers may receive the discount in the form of a paper coupon by presenting a current school ID at their local Meijer customer service desk. Additionally, Meijer also discounted many popular grocery items kids eat for breakfast and lunch. This would include oatmeal, peanut butter and jelly, cereal, fruit snacks and granola bars.
