Area to welcome cyclists

Huron County businesses are being encouraged to welcome hundreds of bicyclists as the Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure brings about 800 riders to the Norwalk area later this month. The Huron County Growth Partnership and the Norwalk Area Visitors Bureau are inviting local businesses, restaurants, retailers and community organizations to take part as riders arrive during Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure 2026. The event will bring cyclists to Huron County from June 19-22, with riders returning June 27. As part of the America 250-Ohio, Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure will bring visitors from across the state and beyond to experience Huron County communities, local attractions and hospitality. Cyclists are expected to begin arriving in Norwalk about 4 p.m. Friday, June 19. That evening, visitors are expected to spend time in Uptown Norwalk for dining, shopping and entertainment. Live music and lawn games are also planned at Suhr Park. Throughout the weekend, riders will travel through the area, including a stop at the Edison Birthplace Museum. Shuttles are planned Saturday afternoon and evening to the WLKR Firelands Music Fest at the Norwalk Amphitheater and Uptown Norwalk. Riders are expected throughout Norwalk on Sunday, June 21. On Monday, June 22, cyclists will head south on bikes between 7-9 a.m. Cyclists will return Saturday, June 27, giving businesses one more chance to welcome riders for meals, shopping and other activities. Local businesses are encouraged to display "Welcome GOBA" riders signs, offer special promotions, or "two wheel deals," provide bike parking, water stations or rest areas and help promote bicycle safety and sharing on the road. Organizers said the event is also a chance for Huron County to show visitors why the area is a good place to visit, live and do business.
