Three from Norwalk earn Lake first team

Three Norwalk mainstays that helped the Truckers to another winning season this spring earned spots on the All-Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division first team. The league announced the teams on May 20. Senior shortstop Landon Ferkel, senior centerfielder Wesley Shupe, and sophomore first baseman Noah Helton earned the top spots for Norwalk, which went 14-10 overall and 7-3 in the Lake. Ferkel batted .352 this season while driving in 15 runs and scoring 15 times. He drew a team-high 17 walks as well. Shupe batted .356 with 11 RBIs. He scored 20 times in 24 games this season. Helton, who often batted leadoff, finished with a .316 batting average, five doubles, 10 RBIs, and 23 runs. He also stole nine bases. Earning second team for Norwalk was senior pitcher Carter Harp. He finished 4-3 with a 0.82 earned run average this season. Harp struck out 45 and walked 17 while allowing four earned runs on 24 hits in 34 innings of work. Senior catcher Caiden Wilson was honorable mention for the Truckers, who went 26-20 the past two seasons after going 15-32 the previous two years. Perkins senior Talon Walton was named Most Outstanding Performer in the Lake. Walton batted .426 with a team-high 28 RBIs as of May 20 for the Division IV-ranked Pirates.
