Norwalk seventh-grade wins SBC Lake tourney

NORWALK — The Norwalk seventh-grade volleyball team ended its season on Oct. 12 by winning the SBC Lake Division tournament championship.

Norwalk, which finished with a 19-3 record for the season, beat Vermilion (25-10, 25-23) and Bellevue (15-25, 25-17, 25-19) to reach the finals, where it then topped Clyde in two (25-23, 25-16).

 

Norwalk eighth-grade ends third

VERMILION — The Norwalk eighth-grade volleyball team placed third on Saturday at the SBC Lake tournament held at Vermilion.

The Ladies in Blue opened with a win over Tiffin Columbian (25-13, 25-11). Callie Helton, Abby Catlett and Adelina Roblero were 100 percent servers, while Roblero had 12 points. Catlett led the team defensively, while Ava Tyler led the team in attacks with four kills and Helton added seven assists.

In the semifinals, Norwalk fell to Bellevue in three (11-25, 25-17, 25-21). Roblero, Emily Skeel, Tyra Corbin and Hill Nash were 100 percent servers, while Paige Braley had 10 points and six aces.

Madison Simon, Roblero and Catlett led the team defensively in the back row, while Tyler had six kills and Roblero had five, with Heldon finishing with nine assists.

Norwalk ended the season with a 17-4 overall record.
