MANSFIELD — Registration has opened for the annual “Broadway Camp!” summer theater program for students ages 8 to 13.

The popular sessions will be held June 17 through 21 and June 24 through 28 at the Renaissance Theatre in Mansfield.

“Broadway Camp!” options include the traditional three-hour morning camp (June 17 through 21), as well as a two-hour “Broadway Camp, Too!” camp (June 24 through 28). Both sessions are designed to be sensory-inclusive. Full and partial scholarships are available for both.

The Renaissance programs provide students of all ability levels with the freedom to explore the world of musical theater and the elements of performance through theater games, improvisation and dramatic play, as well as staging and singing. The five-day camp sessions allow every child the opportunity to benefit from the opportunity to learn, grow and perform as a part of an all-inclusive experience. Each session culminates in a special performance on the Renaissance stage.

“Broadway Camp!” is coordinated and led by Renaissance teaching artist Dauphne Maloney, well-known for her work with youth theater in the North Central Ohio area. She is also the founder and director of Mansfield Youth Theatre, former resident director for the Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre and youth theater director at the Mansfield branch of The Ohio State University. Maloney has directed and costumed more than 200 productions and served as the youth theater director for the Mansfield Playhouse for 20 years. Participating students will work directly with seasoned actors and actresses, as well as Renaissance artistic director Michael Thomas, an award-winning playwright and director.

The camp is presented as a part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series and with support from the Richland County Foundation Summertime Kids fund.

Registration is limited. To register for either of the Broadway Camp weeks, call the Renaissance Education Assistant, Dauphne Maloney at 419-522-2726 ext 212.
