Three area players earn All-Ohio honors

COLUMBUS — Three area standouts were named to the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association All-Ohio teams, released on Monday.

In Division II girls, Norwalk sophomore forward Nyah Daniels was a second team selection after helping the Truckers to a third straight SBC Lake Division title.

Daniels scored 40 goals in 17 matches for Norwalk (12-3-2) this season.

She was also the Most Outstanding Performer for the Lake, adding five assists for a total of 85 points for the season. Daniels also unofficially became one of 43 players in Ohio history to score 40-plus goals in a single-season.

Meanwhile, Willard senior midfielder Yoni Morales was All-Ohio first team in Div. III after he was named the Northwest District Player of the Year on Oct. 28. He helped the Crimson Flashes to a sectional championship this season. Through nine matches reported, Morales had five goals and five assists (15 points).

Also from the area, Edison senior forward Ian Janssen was a second team selection in Div. II. The all-time goals leader at Edison, Janssen helped the Chargers (14-3-2) to SBC Bay Division and sectional championships this season.

He finished with 21 goals and 24 assists, leading the team in both categories for 66 points.

 

Area golfers honored

VAN BUREN — The Northwest District Golf Coaches Association meeting was held on Oct. 29 in Van Buren.

St. Paul junior Jackson Cook earned honorable mention district honors in Division III, while senior David Swope was Academic All-Ohio.

In Div. I girls, Norwalk junior Noelle Jackson was honorable mention, and senior Hannah Dumbeck was Academic All-Ohio.
