Art, as he was known, was born in October of 1934, in Philadelphia. He was raised by MOM Jean and PA Chuck, and graduated from Monroeville High School at age 17. Because he was so young Jean had to sign for him to join the U.S. Navy, and Art did a tour in Korea.
When his enlistment ended he decided to join the Air Force, where he met his future wife in Aurora, Colo. He and Donna decided he should complete his retirement in the Navy and rejoined the U.S. Navy in 1967. Art served abroad the USS Tarawa CVA40, Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Five HC-5 and the USS Constellation. He served two tours in Vietnam and retired in 1974, and in 1982 moved his family to Washington.
Art and Donna celebrated 55 years of marriage this past April 17th.
Art is survived by his wife, Donna; daughter, Lanee (David); granddaughter, Tristan (Jakob), Taryn; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn; sister, Rae (Phil) Colahan; brothers, Jim Maitlan and Tom (Nicole) Farr; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Hal.
