Born Sept. 10, 1944, at his paternal grandparents' home in Parma, he was the son of John William Johnson Sr., and Mary Lucy (Genoso) Johnson. He grew up in Avon, and attended Avon Schools.
Jim formerly worked at Fruehauf Trailer, U.S. Steel; and Ford Motor Co. before an injury ended his factory work. He enjoyed going to flea markets and auctions and was never able to pass up on a good deal.
He especially enjoyed working on small engines and lawn and garden equipment, but he was happiest surrounded by children. From toddlers to teenagers, he loved being entertained by them, and he entertained them with silly hand tricks, goofy sayings and wild stories about "Lizzie." He enjoyed people, just shooting the breeze and making them laugh.
Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia M. (Skrovan) "Patti" "Rabbit" Johnson; their son, James David (Sara) Johnson Jr.; three granddaughters, Kora Starr, Jerica Denise, Maddison Marie "Maddie" Johnson; daughter, Kimberly Ann Johnson Moderelli; son, Brian David Johnson; grandson, Timothy David Johnson; and granddaughter, Megan Nicole Johnson; three sisters, Nancy Allen, Jean Henthorne, Carol Nice; nephews and nieces; and three sisters-in-law, Paula Cifranic, Barb Skrovan, Linda Skrovan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John W. Johnson Jr., Robert A. Johnson; and an infant grandson, Christopher Kenneth Larsen.
Private graveside services will be at Hartland Ridge Cemetery.
