She was born May 21, 1927, in Sharon, Pa., to Ernest E. and Mary (Shaffer) Carlson. She attended Norwalk Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church in Norwalk and enjoyed reading the Bible, crossword puzzles, spending time with family and God and was a prayer warrior.
Shirley is survived by her children, Judy (Richard) Brown of Tampa, Will (Debora) Hayes of Monroeville and Debbie (Raymond) Salyer of Tampa; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard J. Hayes in 2006; sisters, Peggy Gregg and Gloria Payne; grandchildren, Brad Hayes and Richard James Brown.
Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home with the Rev. James McClain officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery and a reception at Calvary Baptist Church.
