He was born February 14, 1937 in Newark, Ohio and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Bob retired from Ford Motor Company in Sandusky after 33 years’ service. He worked in the western oil fields and uranium mines in his younger years.
Bob enjoyed working on his home and yard. He liked mechanical projects of all sorts and enjoyed old Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was active in Golden Gloves boxing in his younger years. Bob was an NRA Benefactor Life Member.
Bob especially liked spending time with his grandsons and telling stories about his travels across the country as a younger man. Bob prized his family and friends and kept close with his brothers.
Bob is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Lou Davis; son, Robert (Deloris) Davis Jr., of Norwalk; daughter, Wendy Davis of Norwalk; grandsons, Lance (Jackie) Davis, Owen Davis, and Vincent Davis, all of Norwalk; brother, Richard (Deb) Davis of Sycamore; sister Patty (Art) Carpenter of Newark; brothers-in-law Ernie (Donna) Canterbury Jr., and Jerry (Monnie) Canterbury; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Sumner and Mary Davis; brothers Jim, Kenneth, and Russ Davis; and father- and mother-in-law Ernie and Opal Canterbury Sr.
At Bob’s request there will be no visitation. A family gathering will be held at a later date.
Bob was loved and always will be.
