New London Hometown Holidays celebration

NEW LONDON — The 11th annual Hometown Holidays will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday. 

The ambulance building on James Street will be the host for several events.

Several civic groups will have raffles, contest and membership drives in the building. Santa will be visiting from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. and carriage rides will originate there from noon until 2:45 p.m. 

The New London Community Club (NLCC) received a donation from the New London Eagles Club to sponsor the event.

The cemetery board will sell memorial ornaments and the NLCC will have cookie decorating and Martha Sturges’ famous apple pies, fresh pecans and holiday necklaces.Miller’s Market donated cookies. The Eagles will have a membership drive at the ambulance building along with a tree ornament contest. 

The morning will start out with a pancake breakfast at the New London Volunteer Fire Department from 7 to 9 a.m. Afterward, a Christmas parade will travel on Main Street with Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the New London marching band. 

The event will end with 50/50 and grand prize drawings.
