There is a $75,000 goal by Dec. 16, the day of the sheriff sale of Berry’s.
In the GoFundMe page, Bryant said owner Lynn Bolden is on a journey to make a difference in the community. Bolden re-opened 1946 Berry’s after the doors closed on the 73-year old business in 2018.
“Lynn put her blood, sweat, tears and her own hard-earned money to own, re-market, and re-open 1946 Berry's, and to save the jobs of her 49 employees,” Bryant said on the page. “Through no fault of her own, she is now forced to come up with a remainder of the building payment before Dec. 16.”
Bryant said, “time is of the essence” to keep the restaurant, the memories and employment alive.
Berry’s has been a staple in the community for decades and brings many people downtown to Norwalk, Bryant said. With this fundraiser, Bryant said he hopes to keep the tradition going.
