Safety fair today at Walmart

Norwalk’s Walmart store will host the first of two Saturday safety fair events at 10 a.m. today with the representatives from local groups promoting safety to customers and associates of the Westwind Drive retailer.

Kids ID cards will be made at the store by officers from the Huron County Sheriff’s Office and Norwalk Police Department. Norwalk firefighters will offer information on fire and carbon monoxide safety form 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

From 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, June 8, officers from the Norwalk Police Department will be providing free safety kids ID disks. From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol will discuss safety on the highway. The Huron County Humane Society will feature pet safety and pet adoption. Members of the Huron County Community Emergency Response (CERT) Team will be on hand to promote safety at home and volunteering during time of emergency.

Local agencies and groups have volunteered to attend the Norwalk Walmart safety fair events as part of the retailer’s Safety Month program. Events will be held at the store located at 340 Westwind Drive in Norwalk. Events are free and open to all.

Agencies and groups who participate may have to leave without notice in case of emergency.
