Norwalk-area residents were deeply saddened by the death of David Kniffin on Thursday.
Kniffin, 67, a local businessman and political leader, will be greatly missed. He is survived by wife, Cynthia and children.
“He was brilliant at the science of politics and I’m grateful I had the opportunity to glean from his knowledge and experience," Norwalk Mayor Rob Duncan said. "David was the face of the Huron County Republican Party for nearly a quarter of a century and will be greatly missed both professionally and personally."
Kniffin served as the chairman of the Huron County Republican Party from 1987 until 2008 when Duncan was named chairman. Kniffin has served the past 23 1/2 years on the Huron County Board of Elections.
“He succeeded me as chairman of the party in 1987,” said Harold Freeman, a local attorney.
Kniffin’s wife, Cynthia, operates the Cynthia Kniffin Dance Academy in Norwalk.
A tribute story will be published in Saturday's Norwalk Reflector.
Kniffin's obituary is posted on this website.
