Another great turnout for Stuff the Bus

• Aug 15, 2019 at 12:29 PM

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Here is a picture illustrating some of the 321 book bags that were packed with the grade-appropriate school supplies for students in the Norwalk Catholic and Norwalk City schools.

These students will be totally ready to begin the 2019-20 school year thanks to the generosity of the Norwalk community who contributed to the annual Stuff the Bus program.

Many thanks go to the Stuff the Bus committee for their hard work and dedication in getting the bags filled and distributed last Wednesday evening. This team also got the word out to the community by putting up yard signs and posters and delivering flyers to several businesses to distribute. This year’s team included Reta Stark, Debe Gelvin, Nicole Jones, Abby Keefer, Linda Monnes, Carol Phillips and Sharlene White.

Our team certainly appreciated the work of the many other volunteers who make this a successful program including retired teachers and the Presbyterian Church Youth group.

We are especially grateful to the Salvation Army for all of their support for Stuff the Bus and their assistance with housing all of the supplies. Once again, Norwalk, you have proven that Norwalk is a great place to raise our kids.
