St. Paul Catholic Church is hosting a non-denominational workshop for Christian musicians about contemporary worship Saturday.

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Sarah Hart will lead the workshop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Joan C. Camp Auditorium in the St. Paul Convocation Center, 30 Wooster St. Registration and price information are available at https://stpaulchurch.weshareonline.org.

Hart will lead participants through the new music emerging from the greater church and how it fits — or doesn’t — into modern-day yet traditional worship services. The workshop will feature new material and singing, as well as discussions about “praise versus performance,” songwriting, cantoring, putting together a great worship band and how to effectively introduce new music to a congregation. A mid-morning healthy snack will be offered.

The public is welcome at attend Hart’s free concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St. A free-will offering will be collected.

This workshop and concert are the result of Kathleen Sigsworth applying for and been awarded a grant through Oregon Catholic Press. Sigsworth, Lisa Hedrick, Julie Tornichio and Tiina Ruffing serve on the committee that planned the event.
