Run with Snoopy, Woodstock and the whole Peanuts gang

SANDUSKY — Earlier this week, the Run & Ride Race Series — an event taking place at several Cedar Fair properties nationwide, including Cedar Point in Sandusky — announced it’s rebranding and is now known as the Peanuts Run & Ride.

Among other changes, it will include more of the Charles Schultz-inspired Peanuts characters in the new logo, on the updated website and throughout race day.

Many of us grew up with Snoopy and the entire Peanuts gang in newspaper comic strips, books, on TV and with trips to the amusement park.

For race participants, the opportunity to run through the park brings back childhood memories of fun on the rides and with family.

The Run & Ride’s choices of race distances — consisting of a half-marathon, quarter-marathon, 5K, and 1 mile — and options to participate in more than one event allows for the nostalgia, energy, and fun to return, which can be shared with family and friends.

“We’re excited to partner with the Peanuts brand to enhance the existing foundation we’ve been building with Cedar Fair and the Peanuts presence within the park,” race director Mark Harris said. “It’s a perfect tie-in for our events, and the participants have made it clear they love anything Charlie Brown and Snoopy.”

Registration is now open for the 2019 race events at Cedar Point, scheduled for June 8-9. There is a 1-mile race, and a half-marathon.

Even with the added bonus of a lot more Peanuts flair, race participants can still expect to receive:

• The same behind-the-scenes course through the park

• Swag, which includes a T-shirt and a ticket to Cedar Point

• Collectible and connectable finisher medals

The race series is directed by Adventure Enablers, a small family business in Virginia. Visit runandriderace.com for more information.
