Brooks celebrating 50 years of marriage

MONROEVILLE — Richard and Mary Ann Brooks, of Monroeville, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today.

Richard, a native of Norwalk, married the former Mary Ann Gates, of Monroeville, on Oct. 19, 1968, at St. Alphonsus Church, Norwalk. Rev. Leo Williams officiated the ceremony.

They are the parents of Glenn Brooks, of Norwalk, and Kenny Brooks, of Monroeville. They have five grandchildren.

Richard is retired from Richard Gates Builders and Glenn Brooks Construction. Mary Ann is retired from pre-finishing work.

The couple’s interests and activities include western style square dancing, making homemade wine, watching their grandchildren’s sporting events, decorating, shopping for antiques, canning and baking, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

They celebrated with a vacation to Branson, Mo., and will also be having a family dinner.
