Photos of Division III District Track and Field Meet at Bucyrus

Bucyrus High School’s track facility was the site for the annual Division III District track and field meet on Saturday. Runners, throwers and jumpers were looking to for a fourth place finish or better, to qualify them for next week’s Regional meet.
Colonel Crawford swept the meet, winning both the boys (122 points) and girls (118 points) titles. The New London Lady Cat tracksters claimed second place with 87 points, followed by Norwalk St. Paul in 3rd place, Monroeville in 4th place, Western Reserve in 5th, South Central in 8th and Plymouth in 15th place.
On the girls side from area schools, New London junior Morgan Luedy was a double winner and qualified for four events at the girl's Regional meet next week in Lancaster. Luedy doubled with wins in the 100M (12.59) and 200M (26.96) dashes and also took seconds in the 100M Hurdles (16.07) and 300M Hurdles (47.36).
Norwalk St. Paul’s Lady Flyer relay teams won two events and qualified for Regional in third. Their 4x200M relay team of Gabby Scavuzzo, Meghan Hedrick, Hanna Mink and Olivia Powers posted a first place time of 1:48.87. Scavuzzo, Powers and Hedrick teamed with Kaleigh Stang to finish the day with the 4x400M relay in 4:07.93. Mink, Hedrick, Scavuzzo and Powers finished second in the 4x100M, touring the oval in 52.45.
Western Reserve’s Brooke Buckhannon and Amber Good went 1-2 in the discus, with throws of 127 feet, 4 inches, and 118 feet, 11 inches. The pair also qualified for Regional in shot put, finishing 2nd and 3rd with throws of 37 feet, 5-1/2 inches, and 35 feet, 4 inches.
Monroeville’s Kristen Smith posted a 59.74 in the 400M to win the event.
On the boys’ side, Western Reserve had the best area finish, at 5th place and 68 points, followed by New London in 6th, Willard in 7th, South Central and Norwalk St. Paul tied for 11th, Plymouth in 14th and Monroeville in 15th place.
The ‘Rider boys posted a 3:33.11 to take the final event of the day and qualify Stephen Schaeffer, Nick Church, Brendan Oswalt and Colton Puder for 4x400M relay at the boy's Regional meet in Tiffin next week.
New London’s Spencer Cole won the 400M dash with a 50.87 for the only other area boy’s first place finish. Cole also qualified for Regionals with a 22.80 for 3rd place in the 200M dash.
