St. Paul wins JH FC title
MONROEVILLE — This past weekend the NCS Junior High wrestling team competed in the Firelands Conference Championships held at Monroeville High School. St. Paul was crowned team champions by scoring 191 points outdistancing second place Plymouth with 91. This is the second consecutive Firelands Conference title for the NCS wrestling team.
The Flyers had eight weight class champions; Harley Stoll (80), Aidan Naseman (86), Will Stieber (98), Camden Crabbs (104), Myron Stoll (110), Ryan Hedrick (122), Ben Meyer (142), and Gavin Moffit (150). Taking 2nd place were Owen Austin (116), Ryan Gross (128), and Sam Parker (HWT). Aidan Kusser (92) placed third.
Crestview took third with 83 points, Western Reserve fourth with 75, New London fifth with 56, South Central sixth with 41, Mapleton seventh with 24 and Monroeville took eighth.
The Norwalk sixth grade girls team split a pair of games on Sunday at Port Clinton. The team lost to Bellevue 23-6 with Emily Koenig, Ashlynn Kerby and Summer Moehlman scoring two points each. Kerby grabbed four boards in the loss.
Norwalk rebounded to beat Port Clinton 22-6 in Game 2. Jossalyn Kreps had eight points while Kerby added four. Kreps added five boards while Moehlman grabbed four.
The team will be back in action next Sunday at Edison to play Edison and Tiffin.
